Discipleship: what it is and what it is not.

A Christian leader
A knowledgeable Christian
A zealous Christian
A Christian who listens to spiritual CDs
Answer? None of the above. Surprised? Do not be! Never has a word been so overused yet so misunderstood. Although the topic of discipleship has been overworked, it needs to be applied more. We all have heard a lot about discipleship. But if the truth were known, most of us still are not disciplining others or being disciple ourselves. Most of us are still spectators when it comes to ministry. That is not only unwise and unhealthy, but it is also unbiblical. So instead, let’s focus on what the Lord said in His Great Commission in Matthew 28:16–20. These verses tell us all we need to know about being a follower of Christ. Let’s learn and live like what it means to be a true disciple.
